Ellen Curtis, born in Madison Township, Scioto County, Ohio, was the fifth child of Milo and Cynthia Brant Curtis. She married David F. Brown February 4, 1866. They had seven children: Mary Elizabeth, Charles Curtis, Lydia Alice, Laura Edith, George Willis, Sadie Pearl, and Ella May.
