Shirley Jean Bode, 82, of Boise, Idaho, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006, at Boise Samaritan Lutheran Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Boise. She had been a resident there since 2001. She was born July 6, 1924, in Chaffee, Mo., daughter of Alvin P. and Grace Wagster Denton. She and Palmer Herman Bode were married Oct. 1, 1940, in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He died Oct. 24, 1992... Shirley Jean Bode, 82, of Boise, Idaho, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006, at Boise Samaritan Lutheran Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Boise.
She had been a resident there since 2001.
She was born July 6, 1924, in Chaffee, Mo., daughter of Alvin P. and Grace Wagster Denton. She and Palmer Herman Bode were married Oct. 1, 1940, in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He died Oct. 24, 1992.
She is survived by a daughter, Pamela Laws of Boise; a son, Paul D. Bode and wife Allison of Schenectady, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Dr. Kelly Tamburello and husband Dr. Anthony Tamburello and great-granddaughters, Virginia and Megan Tamburello of Glassboro, N.J. She is also survived by three sisters, Margaret Gallagher of Santa Fe, N.M., Charlotte Kimes of Topeka, Kan., Donna Biler of Chaffee; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by four sisters, a brother and a son-in-law.
Shirley and her husband resided in several states, locating lastly in Oglesby, Ill. While there, Shirley was employed by Westclox and New Generation Foods. Shirley and Palmer loved the flea market scene and spent many weekends buying, selling and meeting people. Shirley was loved by all who knew her for her sweet smile and personality. She was an avid gardener, seamstress and enjoyed a good game of golf.
Visitation will be Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Barry Pfanstiel officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
