Pro football player, pro basketball player. After graduating from Duluth State Teachers College in 1938, he played briefly with the Detroit Lions in 1938 and the Cleveland Rams in 1939 as a blocking back and linebacker. In 1939 he began a three-year pro basketball career playing forward on the Oshkosh All-Stars in the National Basketball League. In his last two years, Oshkosh won the NBL championship.
