Obituary: "Harald Martinus Aanestad, retired after 31 years as a teacher with the Richmond School District, died of pulmonary disease Sunday at his South Lake Tahoe home. He was 78. The Esmond, ND native was a 48-year resident of El Cerrito. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, El Cerrito; California Retired Teachers Association; and Elks Club of El Sobrante. He is survived by his wife, Ardis Aanestad of El Cerrito; daughter, Pat Morse of Mill Valley; sons, Doug Aanestad of Idaho, Greg Aanestad of Sebastopol and Jeff Aanestad of Chico; brothers, Sylfest Aanestad of Santa Barbara, Alf Aanestad of North Dakota, Rangvold Aanestad of Washington state, and Wilhelm Aanestad of Huntington Beach; sister, Solveig Thorstensen of Minnesota; and six grandchildren. Services 11am Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church in El Cerrito with the Reverend Sharon Lubkeman officiating. Burial will be at Sunset View Cemetery, El Cerrito. Visitation will be from 1-8pm today at the Civic Center Chapel of Wilson & Kratzer Mortuaries, Richmond." (West County Times [Richmond, CA] 29 Nov 1995)
