Son of Charles Wesley Abernathy and Florence Elizabeth Rohrbaugh.

Obituary: "Paul E. Abernathy, 84, formerly of Stow, died January 9, 2003. Born in Emoryville, West Virginia, he had lived in the Akron area since 1943, and had retired from Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. Preceded in death by infant daughter, Linda Abernathy, he is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Curt Brazelton of Stow, Janice and Lee Brown of Ravenna, Daphne True of Darien, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Paul E. Jr and Susan of Stow; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Pastor Jim Case will conduct services Sunday, 6:30pm, at Redmon Funeral Home, where friends may call from 3:30pm until service time. Private burial will be held at Stow Cemetery."
