Former Indiana resident Billy Bert Day, 84, died July 25, 2011, at Hope Hospice in Fort Myers, Fla.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

He was born Sept. 8, 1926, in Milltown, to Elmer Day and the former Augusta Radcliff. He was the founder of Bill's 5 Lakes in New Albany. Billy worked at Colgate for 30 years. He was married to the late Hazel V. Day for 64 years. Billy and his wife Hazel had a vacation home in Vero Beach and in Fort Myers Beach where they enjoyed many wonderful winters there together. They finally settled down in Fort Myers, a place that they called their paradise sweet paradise.

Billy was an avid fisherman and he loved the water, as did his wife, Hazel. He was the most caring person you could ever meet. Every one of his stories that were told were so precious and memorable, he made us all laugh, up until his dying day.

Survivors include his children, Billy Wayne Day, and his daughter, Carolyn Sue Day; his three grandchildren, Caroline Calfee, Laura Riggs, and Justin Calfee; and one great-grandchild, Nicholas Calfee.

Condolences may be sent to 9709 Gladiolus Preserve Circle, Fort Myers, Fla. 33908. Donations may be made to Hope Hospice of Fort Myers, Fla.
