Charles E. Bailey is Dead at 78

Charles E. "Pop" Bailey, 78, 714 North Topeka,
died this morning in Allen Memorial hospital.
He had been ill for the past six weeks.

Mr. Bailey had lived all of his life in
Butler County except for a short time
when he resided in Oklahoma and Missouri.

For 11 years he was an employee of the
City of El Dorado. Later he was self employed
as owner and operator of a service station and
restaurant near Pickrell Corner. Previously he
was engaged in a trucking business.

Mr. Bailey was born July 10, 1884, three mile
south of Beaumont in Butler County. He married
Mabel Randall, Oct. 4, 1904 in Missouri.

Surviving are his wife of the home; four sons,
Howard, Route 1; Glen T. Route 2, Leon,
Charles A., Los Angeles, Calif., and
Waldo I., 604 South Topeka; three daughters,
Mrs. D. B. Robertson, Douglass,
Mrs. Charels H. Johnson, 515 North Emporia and
Mrs. A. C. Hall 712 North Topeka, 22 grandchilren
and 29 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be announced by the
Dietz-Pittman Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Charles E. Bailey, 78,
will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the
Dietz-Pittman Colonial Chapel.
The Rev. Carl Holm, pastor of the
First Church of God of Augusta will officiate.
Burial will be in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.

Services Held For Charles E. Bailey

Funeral services for Charles E. "Pop" Bailey,
78, were held Tuesday afternoon in the
Dietz-Pittman Colonial Chapel.
The Rev Carl Holm, pastor of the
First Church of God at August officiated.
Mr. Bailey died last Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. George Snider sang "The Old Rugged Cross", "Just As I Am" and "Beyond the Sunset"
accompanied by Mrs. Amos Marsh at the organ.

Casket bearers were Sgt. Gerald E. Wertz,
Melvin Bailey, Mitchell Pyle, Gerald Bailey,
Loys Nelson and Gene Cox.

Burial was in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
