Ruth Arrowsmith, a resident of Humble, Texas formerly of Green Forest, AR, was born May 8, 1923 in Greeley County, KS, a daughter of Ben H. and Ida (Minnich) Crow.

She departed this life Sunday, February 14, 2010 in Houston, TX at the age of 86 years.

Ruth was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Green Forest, AR and a member of the Women's Ministries.

Mrs. Arrowsmith is survived by one son, Kenneth Lee Arrowsmith and wife Lisa of Sullivan, MO; three daughters, Delores Ann Doyle of Harrison, AR, Joyce Ruth and husband Ronnie Haynes of Wellton, AZ and Beverly Sue Gibson of Humble, TX; one brother, Albert Crow and wife Emily Jo of Huntsville, AR; four sisters, Helen Oldham of Berryville, AR, Gloria Kelley of Eureka Springs, AR, Gladys Foster of Eureka Springs, AR and Patsy and husband Tom Gage of Berryville, AR; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other family and friends.

On January 21, 1943 Ruth was united in marriage with Harold Seth Arrowsmith who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her parents; one daughter, Ida Yvonne Arrowsmith; and one brother, Wilbur Crow.

Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2010 at Nelson's Green Forest Chapel. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 20, 2010 at First Assembly of God Church in Green Forest with Pastor Mark Bryant officiating. ~ These few words from the front of Ruth's obituary card convey exactly the way Ruth believed and lived her life.
It is a printed example of what I saw in her as the very essence of her faith. ~

I met Ruth quite by accident through an email she replied to. The message was sent originally to a mutual friend. Once Ruth and I figured out how we'd connected we started our own line of communications.

I found her to be such a feisty person, so full of life and no hesitation to express her opinion what-so-ever. And she'd tell you in a heartbeat if you sent her a message that she found offensive. She made no bones about it!
Ruth was fantastic.
After she was diagnosed with cancer I sent her an email asking her if she was going to have treatment and her answer was a loud and clear, "NO, I'm not having treatment. I've had a good long life and I'm ready to go HOME." There was never a doubt in my mind the HOME she was referring to. Her faith and trust in our God was total and complete.
I know where Ruth is tonight, there celebrating her reunion with her husband and daughter and the rest of her family and friends.
I guess it's time to take her name off my address list for emails, nope, I think I'll just move it to the bottom. That way each time I see her I'll be reminded of her and the person I grew to love.
Thinking of Ruth, I'm reminded of the email that I know you've read, it's been around a few times... it ends with, 'and live the kind of life that when your feet hit the floor in the morning, the devil will say, "Oh NO, She's awake!"' That fits Ruth to a tee. She said what she meant and meant what she said.
I just hope and pray that when I come to the end of my life that I can be as confident of the life I've lived as Ruth was and still be so full of life at the age she was.
I thank God for letting me be a small part of her life and allowing her to be such a special part of mine.
Ruth you will be missed, dear one.
