Geoffrey Wynne Bavin was a son of Major John Thomas Bavin and Grace (Durance) Bavin of 95 High St., Berkhamsted. His siblings included John Bavin, Arthur Julian Walter Bavin, Elsa Mary Bavin, John Herbert Bavin, Margaret Grace Bavin, and Edward Sidney Durance Bavin.
He was educated at Berkhamsted School and gazetted from Royal Military College, Sandhurst (20 October 1915) as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Lincolnshire Regiment. He was seconded to the Royal Flying Corps in February 1916 and was tragically killed at 18 years of age in a flying accident.

'When his master called him for promotion he found him at his post'. In happy and beloved memory of his father John Thomas Bavin who died June 20 1937 aged 67. And in loving memory of his mother Grace Bavin who died on Dec 8 1939 aged 68. 'In death they were not divided'."
