Denver Coots, 86 of New Richmond OH, passed away Friday, May 20, 2011 of kidney failure at the St. Elizabeth Hospital Unit of Fort Thomas, KY. Denver was born on August 2, 1924 in Dorton Branch, KY.
His parents were Andrew and Ollie(Williams)Coots. Denver came from a family of 4 sisters and 3 brothers. He married Ruby Marie Doss in 1943. Denver was inducted in the army on Sept. 10, 1943. He served in the 39th signal Construction Battalion of Company B in WWII as a Lineman Telephone/Telegraph. He was honorably discharged in February, 1946. He saw action in Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. Decorations included the European African Middle Eastern Champaign Medal with 4 stars, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. Denver always attributed his survival during the war to the prayers of his beloved mother Ollie.
After the war, Denver moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. From there he and Ruby along with his in-laws moved to New York State, after which he returned to Cincinnati. After then his first son Larry was born . Ten years later they were blessed with their second son Dusty.
He is preceded in death by his sister Ethel Coots Howard, brothers Elbert Coots, Arnold Coots and sister Ruth Coots Taylor. He is also preceded by his wife, Ruby and one of his sons, Dusty Coots. His surviving sisters, Margie Partin and Helen Roark and brother Richard Coots. He is also survived by one son Larry, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Denver worked for United Window Cleaning for over 40 years and had been retired for the last several years. Denver was a very accomplished man. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, auto repair, small engine repair and wrestling. People who knew him loved him. He was always there to help anybody that needed help. If "A picture is worth a thousand words." How many will it take to describe the life of Denver and the kindness and love he showed to the people he knew? These few words are not enough. He will be missed.
Funeral services was at 1 P.M on Tuesday May 24, 2011 at Bethlehem Baptist Church , Dorton Branch KY. with Rev. Jamie Coots, Burial was followed at Hickory Flats Cemetery, Dorton Branch.
