Luey E. Billings, 77, a partner in the C. J. Billings and Sons, Lumber and Box Manufacturers Co., one of the oldest lumber mills of its kind in this area, died Friday in a nursing home in Greenfield. He was born in Erving on April 17, 1883, son of Charles J. and Lucy (Nichols) Billings and had been a resident of this town nearly all of his life. He had not been active in the business for the past 10 years because of ill health. He was married to the former Marion Kretchman in New York state and she died in 1954. He attended public schools of Montague Center, and was a past master of the Bay State Lodge of Masons of Montague Center. He leaves two brothers, Henry J. Billings of Melrose, N.Y., and Leon C. Billings of Montague Center; two sisters, Mrs. O.C. Leonard of Greenfield and Miss Gertrude T.
