This world lost a bright light for the Lord as Mildred Mae Walker Brown passed from this life into glory on Sunday, August 24th, 2014 at 7:28 AM. As many prepared for church, Mildred went to worship the Lord Jesus Christ face to face.

Mildred was born June 28th, 1921 to Isom and Ophelia Walker. She married Edwin P. Brown on May 14th, 1940 and they walked this path together for 74 years. Ed preceded Mildred in death April 5th, 2014. Almost five months later, Mildred has joined him to walk together once more.

Mildred was preceded in death by her brothers Charles Walker, Haskell P. Walker and Paul Walker, and her sister Patricia Ann Walker. Mildred is survived by her sisters Eloyes Bassonette and Doris Bassonette.

Mildred was preceded in death by her daughter Gwendolyn Bryner. Mildred is survived by her daughters Delores (Mike) Higgins, Towana (Charles) Smith, Schewida (James) Farragut, and her son Dean (Rie) Brown.

Mildred enjoyed the blessings of eight grandchildren: Rhome Smith, Brad Smith, Wendy Carson, Holly Johnson, Niles Bryner, Selena Austin, Lee Farragut and Carol Horn.

Mildred was blessed with a spiritual daughter, Mamie Gayle, who served Mildred with much love and affection.

Mildred Brown led a Christ centered life as she followed her Savior and served her family. She gained much joy in being with her family and watching them grow. Mildred had a great heart of love for strangers, sharing her time and resources and opening her home to those in need.

Mildred served her church faithfully over her life, playing the piano, singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School. She was a member of the Auxiliary of the Gideons International.

Services to celebrate the completion of a life well lived and a race successfully run will be held on Thursday, August 28th at Helena Presbyterian Church, 10301 Saracennia Rd, Moss Point, MS. Viewing will be from 9 to 11AM. The service will be from 11 AM to 1 PM. A processional with escort by the Soldiers of the Cross and graveside closing will follow at Crestlawn Cemetary in Ocean Springs. Fellowship will occur afterwards at Helena Presbyterian Church.

Instead of flowers, to continue the gift of sharing God's word with others, the family prefers memorials to be made to Gideons International through the Gideon Card Program. Information can be found at www.gideons.org
