Dale passed away suddenly Friday on April 15, 2011 from complications of the liver. He has been fighting this terrible issue for the last four or five years.

Dale M. Atencio was born on August 25, 1958 in Denver Colorado to parents Michael Atencio Jr. and Josephine. His occupation was a carpenter. He is survied by his life partner Lisa Maes and many other relatives and friends. Memorial services were held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at St Dominics Church (29th & Federal Blvd).

Dale was a good friend of mine for over 40 years. He also was a friend to the rest of my family. I first seen him on another elementry school wrestling squad. I then went to school with him at Kearney Junior High and then Adams City High School in Commerce City Colorado. He then moved to Denver before we were able to graduate together.

We ran into each other a few years later and spent a lot of time together talking about old times. The last time I seen him was a couple of years ago. Dale and I spent the whole day together. I really enjoyed that day with him.

Our family decided to hold a benefit for him. It was my brother Randy who made it happen and sponsored it. We wanted to help him out as much as we could, and he was so thankful for it.

Dale sure did love his Broncos and all the rest of the sports teams in Colorado. We would get into some deep sports triva's. He was alway so nice to me and everyone. He had the most bright smile I have ever seen. I just coudn't picture him ever mad. If something was bothering him, he would get more hurt than angry.

I did call him once in a while. The last time I called him, his number was no longer in service. I just wish I would of taken steps further to get a hold of him. I would of loved to be right by his side once again. I just cant get the last day I seen him out of my head. We really had a lot of fun that day. I am really going to miss him. He will be missed by so many. I love you Dale Atencio.

Dale will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him. He will be forever in our hearts and in our minds.

Arrangements under the directions of Olinger Mortuary and Cemetery.
