SEBRING, Fla. | Kenneth D. Campbell, 98, of Sebring, Fla., formerly of Cayuga, N.Y., passed away at the Highlands Regional Medical Center in Sebring on March 29, 2015, after suffering a fractured hip at his home.

Born Dec. 4, 1916, in Cato, N.Y., he was the son of Almon and Clara Dobbin Campbell.

Ken served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After working short stints at Beacon Milling and as a co-owner of a Cayuga garage, he became a rural letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, from which he retired in 1976 after 25 years. He was an active free Mason while in Cayuga and had many lifelong interests including woodworking, clock making, and repairing and collecting antiques, especially coins and clocks. He was also sought after by his children and friends for his home repair and improvement expertise. He was a lifelong avid admirer and reader of poetry.

Ken was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, F. Irene Olmstead, of Wolcott, in 2007.

He is survived by a son, Roland J., of Sanibel, Fla. and Union Springs, N.Y.; a daughter, Margery Roberts, of Fort Myers, Fla. and Henderson Harbor, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Alison Campbell Kendall (Dewayne), of Fairfax, Va., Mitchell Campbell (Elizabeth), of Charlotte, N.C., Kathleen Roberts Lamont (William), of Lake Ridge, Va., and Meagan Roberts (T. Scott Hinds), of Annandale, Va., and seven great-grandchildren. As they grew from babies to adults, he always made time to play and joke with his grandchildren, who adored him and knew him as Pa.
