As a lifelong area resident, Ella was employed by New Process, Warren General Hospital and as an Avon representative. She was a member of Sheffield United Methodist Church and the Sheffield Senior Center and enjoyed doing arts and crafts. As a volunteer, Ella served her community by reading to patients at Warren General Hospital and nursing homes.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen J. McNeal and husband Donald, Warren and Debra L. Taylor and husband Fred, North Carolina; one sister Shelvia J. Wilson, Warren; four grandchildren, James G. Hovey, Bethany HoveyHosick, Mathew C. Hovey and Kristina BurtonJohnson; four great grandchildren, Vanessa, Garrett, Dawson, and Sarah; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ella was preceded in death in 1989 by her husband Gilbert D. Burton whom she married Oct. 15, 1948 in Clarendon; one sister Mildred Miller; two brothers Orren and Cecil Heeter; and 3 siblings in infancy.
