Services were held June 8 for Virginia Marie Ahrendsen, 57, of Olin at the Olin United Methodist Church with burial in Mayflower Cemetery at Oxford Junction. The Rev. Vernon Peverill officiated at the services.
Virginia Marie Foy was born on Sept 21 at Des Moines, the daughter of William and Lydia Johnston Foy. She graduated from Wyoming High School in 1948 and Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls in 1950.
She married Leo Ahrendsen at Cedar Falls and for the next 12 years the couple farmed west of Wyoming and then near Clarence for the next 22 years. In 1984 they moved to Olin.
Virginia was a member of the Olin United Methodist church and the United Methodist Church Women.
She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Marcia of Bondurant, Kathy Houstman of Tipton, and Sandra Less of Salt Lake City, Utah; two sons, Lynn Ahrendsen of Clarence, Alan Ahrendsen of Anamosa; her parents, William and Lydia Foy of Wyoming.
She was also survived by five grandsons, one granddaughter and two brothers, Jim Foy of Davenport and George Foy of Oelwein.
Pallbearers were Vic Robinson, Jay Slater, Donald Derga, Russell Tenley, Richard Nebergall and Lester Rix.
Hayden Funeral Home was in charge of service arrangements.
