Mr. Harold Lawson Allen, age 87, of Crockett, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013 in the Cartmell Nursing Home in Palestine. He was born March 20, 1926 in Houston County, Texas and was a resident of Crockett all of his lifetime. Mr. Allen was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II. He was a 50 year Mason and member of the Lothrop Masonic Lodge # 21 A. F. and A. M. Mr. Allen was the owner and operator of Crockett Iron Works. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Crockett where he was a deacon for many years.

Survivors include wife, Betty Allen of Crockett; son and daughter-in-law, John Harold and Anne Allen of Crockett; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Don Mitchell of Plano; grandchildren, Dr. Blake Mitchell and wife, Trisha of Frisco, Brent Mitchell and wife, Cynthia of Frisco, Dr. John Michael Allen and wife, Jennifer of Crockett, Robert Lee Allen and wife, Amanda of Nacogdoches; great-grandchildren, Campbell Mitchell, Cody Mitchell, Samantha Mitchell, Cleavie Allen, Kate Allen and Brady Lee Allen; brothers, Perry Lee Allen and wife, Billie of Tyler, Bill Allen and wife, Eloise of Crockett; sister, Frankie Gallant and husband, George of Trinity; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Preceded in death by parents, Frank and Viola Allen; sister, Doris Jackson and brother, Horace Allen.

Funeral services for Mr. Harold Lawson Allen will be held Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Rev. John Goss and Rev. Charles Goodson officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park. Family will receive friends Friday evening beginning at 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Baptist Church Building Fund, 100 N. 7th Street, Crockett, Texas 75835.
