Suggested Edit: Charles R. "Jim" Allebaugh, 91, a resident of the Lacey Spring community, died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon July 17, 1996, at his home.
A son of the late Samuel Robinson and Irene Brock Allebaugh, he was born on July 12, 1905, in Rockingham County. He lived his entire life in the Lacey Spring community and attended Rockingham Public Schools and graduated from Shenandoah College in Dayton.
Mr. Allebaugh was a retired farmer and livestock dealer. In his youth, he was a semi pro baseball player and also played Valley League for the Harrisonburg Turks.
He was an avid supporter of the American Saddlebred Horses and owned and showed horses throughout the southeast.
In 1929, he married Madeline Null who preceded him in death in 1973. He was also preceded in death by Frances Revercomb Allebaugh in 1989.
He is survived by one daughter, one son, seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 o'clock in the Lacey Spring Cemetery with Father John Glover officating.
