Jean K Golob, 88, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2009 at the Lompoc Convalescent Care Center.

Jean was born April 30, 1920, in Waukegan, Illinois to Frank and Agnes Penca. She was the youngest daughter of 23 children. She married Joseph J Golob in 1941, in Illinois, and moved to Santa Barbara with their son in 1942 while her husband was serving with the Navy in the South Pacific. She lived in Santa Barbara for ten years before they moved to Lompoc in 1952. Jean and Joe celebrated their 60th anniversary two weeks before his passing in 2001.

She loved to cook and the family enjoyed special meals and holiday treats for many years. When her husband retired, they spent their summers in Oregon along the Sprague River where they built their cabin. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening both in Lompoc and in Oregon. Her garden received an honorable mention Beautification Award from the City of Lompoc in 1989. Her family was important to her and she enjoyed visits and time spent with them.

Survivors include her son, Jospeh A Golob of Lompoc, daughter, Maureen and son-in-law S Quince La Grange of Santa Maria, brother William Penca and his wife Nancy of Lompoc, granddaughters, Jenell Miller of San Diego and Kristen La Grange of Orcutt, two great-grandchildren Brady Quince Miller and Alora Kay Grace La Grange, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Per her request, arrangements for cremation and burial at sea are under the care of The Neptune Society.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any charity of your choice. A private family memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
