Linda G. Ackles, 48, of R.D.2 Moravia (Sempronius), N.Y. died Sept. 13, 1996 at University Hospital in Syracuse following an extended illness.
She was born Feb. 8, 1948 in Auburn, the daughter of Harley and Jennie Grobelny and had been a lifelong resident of the Sempronius area.
Mrs. Ackles attended Dresserville Bible Baptist Church and was a member of the Sempronius Fire Department Auxiliary, the Groton American Legion Auxiliary and past member of the New York State China Painter's Association.
She graduated from Moravia Central School, Morrisville College as a L.P.N. and from Tompkins Cortland Community College in Dryden as a registered nurse.
Mrs. Ackles was employed at Cortland Memorial Hospital for 25 years as a nurse.
In addition to her mother, Jennie Grobelny of Locke, she is survived by her husband of 29 years: William A. Ackles of Sempronius; one son: Wayne H. (Karen) Ackles of Fairport; two daughters: Andrea A. Ackles and Renee M. Ackles, both of Sempronius. Also surviving are two brothers: Howard Grobelny of Locke, Frederick Grobelny of Genoa; four sisters: Mary Follett of Houston, Tex., Barbara (Sidney) Stevens of Venice Center, Ann Matijas (Larry) Brannon of Moravia, and Susan (Merle) Bower of Lansing. She is also survived by several close aunts and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her father, Harley Grobelny.
Services will be conducted on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Dresserville Bible Baptist Church in Dresserville, with the Rev. James R. Kelly, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Sand Hill Cemetery, Dresserville.
The family will receive friends at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, Inc., 5016 North Main St., Homer, N.Y. today from 6 to 9 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Ackles name to the Lupus Foundation of America, Inc., CNY Chapter, Maria Regina Center, 118 Court St., Bldg. B, Syracuse, NY 13208.
