Ella Rose Battern, 91, of Sioux City died Saturday, June 4, 2005, in Sioux City.
Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Craig Bock of St. Luke Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be 2 p.m. until service time Wednesday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.
Mrs. Battern was born Nov. 15, 1913, in Bloomfield, Neb., the daughter of Hans and Tina (Grentz) Lowin. She was raised in Bloomfield and graduated from Bloomfield High School. After high school, she moved to Sioux City and had been a resident ever since.
She was united in marriage to Basil Boyd Battern on Sept. 16, 1937, in Dakota City. She was employed with Cudahay's and Swift Produce and Company most of her adult life. Mr. Battern died Feb. 12, 1964.
She attended St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morningside.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five sisters; and six brothers.
