She was my mother`s closest friend.she was also a wife,mother and grandmother.she along with her husband juan raised 3 children together and were the grandparents toseveral grandbabies.mrs.rivera and my mother worked together for many years @city fashions in manhattan,new york.they would commute weekly to and from work.they also celebrated everything from birthdays to weddings and everything in between(joyous as well as sad)with each others families.they were always together through thick and thin.when she succumbed to the injuries sustained in a hit and run while on vacation in puerto rico it tore my mother`s heart in two.my mother felt guilty for not being there for her friend when she needed her .she carried this guilt for the rest of her life.they`re both gone now but I know they are together again sharing stories and celebrating holidays.I bet they still drop by from time to time just to check up on us.
