"KEWADIN — Albert J. Anderson, 64, of Kewadin, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009. He was born Jan. 31, 1945, in Elk Rapids, the son of Percy (Louisa Williams) Anderson. Albert lived most of his life in Elk Rapids. He was a member of the Kewadin Indian Mission Church and the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians. He enjoyed hunting, playing cards, sports, walking around and nature. He especially enjoyed watching his grandsons play ball.

He is survived by his children Albert Jr. (Cookie) Anderson of Rochester, N.Y., Ronald (Nicole) Anderson of Suttons Bay, Mary Lynn (Dan) Anderson of Traverse City; six grandchildren, Brandon, Dwaun, Jonathan, Dakota, Jordan, Veronica; three brothers, Gerald Anderson of Peshawbestown, Percy Anderson and Robert Anderson both of Elk Rapids; special niece, Theresa Shananaquet of Kewadin; many nieces and nephews; and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Steven, Russell, Edward, David Anderson; sister, Florine Alberts; his parents; and son, David Gerald.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at his home, 6805 Cairn Hwy., with Rev. Tom John officiating. Interment will follow in Indian Mission Cemetery, Kewadin. The family will receive friends starting this evening, Sept. 29, at 5 p.m. continuing until the time of services at his home. The sacred fire will also be at his home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kewadin Indian Mission Church or Grand Traverse Band Elders...Arrangements have been handled by the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes."
