Eric was afflicted with Sickle Cell Anemia, he never complained, and few people even knew he was ill, sadly he succumbed to the disease, on December 7, 2007, at Emory University Hospital, in Atlanta GA, two days shy of his 44th birthday. At the time of his passing he was a very active member of the deaf ministry, at Ray of Hope Church, Stone Mountain GA. He was a member of the National Association of Black Accountants, and a Dekalb County Notary Public. He was a brilliant, wonderful spirit, who will never be forgotten
FOREVER YOUNG !! ( For my beloved Godson )
The Sun is dancing softly,
On the grave where he is laid.
And the hollow in our heartbeats
Is a fabric that won't fade.
He was woven there to gladden us,
And he stays forever young.
Remembrance is a gift from God,
To see him laughing in the sun.
We may think it's imagination,
Though the vision's very clear.
Let his image comfort us,
That's how we'll keep him near.
The "might have beens" are Devil's prompts,
For us to be angry with the Lord.
HE never would have chosen him,
If we could not carry such discord.
Darkness cannot be welcomed,
Into a heart where he lives still.
For how else will the Joy, he brought,
Ward off the bitter chill?
Let the wind whisper in his laughter,
Let tears recall his precious face.
Remembrance is a gift from God,
To hold in our hearts' embrace.
Dare we argue with the Lord?
On why he should have stayed?
Were it not for Love and Grief,
No Angels could be made.
But he cannot ever leave us,
If we never quite let go.
LOOK! There he is, inside our hearts.
Because we love him so.!!
