Evan was born in Abercanid,Merthyr Tydfil Wales on July 6 1846 to John and Ann Davies John.Evan first moved to Indiana USA where he married Sarah Lewis on Dec 21 1869,then to California.After Sarah's tragic death in Forest California Evan moved to Nanaimo BC with his 8 children to work the mines.Evan would remain a widower until 1903 when he married Mary Evans John,the widow of his brother Francis and became step father to their 7 children.Evan and Mary lived out the remainder of their lives together in Nanaimo where they are buried together.
