Benjamin J. Mize, 62, of Manteca died of natural causes Thursday at home. A native of Wyatt, La., Mr. Mize moved to Manteca 15 years ago from Fremont. He was a mechanic for United Air Lines in San Francisco for 17 years. Prior to that, he retired after 24 years of service from th US Air Force, reaching the rank of senior master sergeant. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 1000 in San Francisco, the Air Force Sergeants Association and the Nor-Cal Golf Association.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Mize, of Manteca; six daughters, Karen Tracy of Pleasanton, Pamela Martinez and Robin Valdespino, both of Manteca, Terri L. Murray of Tracy, Kimberly Agel of Redwood City, and Debra S. Spees of Green Bay, Wis.; two sisters, Katie Cutter [Kutters] of Washington and Lynell Wilson of Illinois; and a brother, Morell Mize of Texas. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday in the mortuary. Burial will be at Cherokee Memorial Park.
