August 23, 1917 - July 24, 2021
On Saturday, July 24, 2021, our beloved matriarch, Sylvia Johanna Erickson O'Brien, peacefully left this earth into God's graces at the age of 103. She is survived by many loving individuals, including her son; her grandchildren; her great-grandchildren, as well as numerous extended family and dear friends. Sylvia grew up in Grande Prairie and married Eric Evan O'Brien in 1940. Sylvia worked for FB Matthews/Reed Stenhouse for over 30 years and retired in 1982. While retired, Sylvia had time to pursue her love of travel, visiting family and friends, and enjoyed being active keeping a full social calendar. She was a kind-hearted person, with a spunky young-at-heart attitude, who loved life. Her positive attitude and bright personality were a true blessing for all that knew her. She treasured the holidays and family events spent over the decades with her sister Gladys Rouleau and her family, and the Bill Bowes family. She attended Highlands United Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Eric Evan O'Brien; her parents, Sakarias and Johanna Erickson; and her sister Gladys Rouleau. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at Highlands United Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Highlands United Church or charity of your choice.
