Charles N. Alford, one of the best known and most popular young men of Gadsden, died at the home of his mother on Walnut street at 11 o'clock.
Mr. Alford had been ill for a long time and only recently returned from Colorado, where he went in search of health.
The deceased was about 30 years old. He was the son of Mrs. E.P. Alford and was reared in Guntersville, the old family home. A few years ago he came to Gadsden and established himself as a civil engineer and built up a considerable property interest. He leaves a mother, a brother and several sisters.
The funeral arrangements have not been announced, but it is likely that the funeral will occur tomorrow afternoon.

The funeral of Charles N. Alford took place yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock, the services being conducted at Forrest cemetery by the Gadsden lodge of Elks. The members of this organization attended the funeral in a body and at the grave they conducted their beautiful and impressive ceremony.

Mr. Alford was born at the old Sansom homestead in Alabama City, and his family is one of the most prominent in this section of the state. He leaves a mother, four sisters and a brother.
