Denning - Mrs. Mattie Ellen Denning for twenty eight years a resident of this county, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. S.L. Compton 501 East 15th Avenue, Wednesday evening at eight o'clock.

Mrs. Denning had been ill for a number of years, with cancer of the stomach, and a short time ago submitted to an operation, in hopes that it would prove a benefit to her. Martha Ellen Gann was born, February 28, 1872 in Potwatomie County, Kansas, and died August 16, 1922, being at the time of her death, 50 years, 5 months and 18 days. She was unitd in marriage to Arthur Denning, January 31, 1897 and to this union three children were born, Mrs. Ethel DeVore, of Winfield, and Rhea and Raymond at home. The funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at five o'clock at the Compton home, 501 East 15th Avenue. The Rev. Frank Herriott will be in charge. Burial will be made in Union Cemetery.
