Araceli, who was nine months pregnant, was tragically murdered allegedly by Phiengchai Sisouvanh Synhavong, who plotted to kill her in order to steal her baby from her womb. Araceli, from Pasco, Washington, was already the mother of two children, and was due to give birth to her third, a boy, very soon. Synhavong had told some friends and family that she was pregnant, near full-term, and it has been said that she encouraged her boyfriend to marry her in the previous month of May, by telling him and his family that she was pregnant. After murdering Araceli and cutting the baby boy from her womb, Synhavong tried to pass off the baby as her own, but it was soon discovered that she had not recently given birth. As of the fall of 2010, Synhavong is standing trial for the crime. Araceli's baby boy, Salvador, survived the attack, and now lives with Araceli's widower (Salvador's father), and siblings.
