CREACH, Pastor Wayne Scott (Age 74) Beloved husband, father, grandfather, pastor, and longtime Valley businessman died unexpectedly while protecting his home and business on Wednesday night, August 25th. A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 28, from 12-4PM at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley. Funeral services will be held at Greenacres Baptist Church on Monday, August 30th at 10:00am, 18620 E. Sprague, in Spokane Valley. He is preceded in death by his father, Ernest E. Creach and is survived by his step-mother Virginia Creach, wife Imogene, four sisters Colleen, Marlene, Darlene, Alana, and four brothers Wally, Paul, Dan, and Bill. His family includes two daughters, Serena and Edith, two sons, Alan and Ernie, twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Born May 20, 1936, "Pastor Scott" grew up on a farm outside Hammon, Oklahoma. He worked for the Bunker Hill Mine in Kellogg, Idaho from 1956 until 1958. In 1965, Scott and his family moved to the Spokane Valley. He worked as the Early Dawn Dairy's quality control supervisor until 1974 when his greenhouse business demanded his attention fulltime. The Creach Greenhouse and Plant Farm is a living legacy of the region's rich agricultural heritage located in the heart of Spokane Valley. Most area residents will best remember Scott for his popular radio show, the Plant Farmer, where for the past 30 years he has provided gardening and plant tips to green thumbs across the Inland Northwest. He had a deep love of good earth and a passion for things that grow. Scott's true calling in life was to spread the Gospel message that Jesus saves from sin and makes lives new again. He served as a pastor for over 45 years in Oklahoma, Idaho, and Washington, and started Greenacres Baptist Church in 1971. He helped establish and reestablish churches in Greenacres, Otis Orchards, Spokane, Kellogg, St. Maries, Cheney, and Medical Lake and has supported Christian missionaries scattered throughout the world. Pastor Scott's life, example, and testimony have literally touched multitudes in his many years of service to the Lord and his community. He will be missed greatly by family and friends, and his passing is a tragic loss to the community. His family rejoices with the knowledge that he is at home with the Lord. "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven; a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted." Ecclesiastes 3:1-2

Wayne was shot and killed by a Spokane Valley police officer. Officer Brian Hirzel shot the pastor outside of the nursery business that he owned. The shooting has generated a lot of questions into Hirzel's actions. Wayne was 74-years-old.
