Memorial services for Joel Vernon Ardoin, 84, of Trinidad, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2010, at First United Methodist Church with his son, Joel Allen Ardoin, officiating. Burial will be at Beaver Creek Cemetery, Beaver Creek, La., 10 a.m. Monday, June 7.
Mr. Ardoin died Monday, May 31, 2010, in Trinidad. He was born Oct. 14, 1925, in Vidrine, La., to the late Millard Ardoin and the late Olivia Mayeaux Ardoin.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was stationed at Moffett Field, Calif., and served on the U.S.S. Alaska. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Ardoin was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; one brother; daughter, Mary Louise Ardoin; granddaughter, Fonda Gail Ardoin; grandson, Tony Lane Ardoin; sons-in-law, Freddie Colvin and Mike Buchanan; daughter-in-law, Annetta Ardoin.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Barbara Ardoin; sons, Robert C. Ardoin of Reddell, La., Joel Allen and wife Joanna Ardoin of Eunice, La., Tommy Ardoin of Trinidad; daughters, Bobbie Jo and husband Bobby Ardoin of Easton, La., Bea and husband Forrest Askew of Tool, Pam and husband Steve McClintock of Weatherford, Debbie Buchanan of Richards, Texas, Susie Colvin and Wes Robinson of Kemp, Terry Hawkins of Binghamton, N.Y., Lisa Foster of Athens; sister, Cedar Fontenot ; 28 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be the grandsons.
