Paul Joseph "P. Jay" Amadio of Forest City died Friday at AseraCare Hospice at Mid-Valley Hospital, Peckville. His wife, the former Frances Verdi, died in 1998. Born in Vandling, son of the late Paul J. and Rose Bianco Amadio, he was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He also served in the 109th Infantry of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. He served two terms as mayor of Forest City and was also a former borough council member. He served as a committee member for the Susquehanna County Democratic Party. He was a reporter for several area newspapers, including The Scranton Times-Tribune and the Susquehanna Transcript, and a radio disc jockey who broadcasted under the name of Lou Nelson. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph. The funeral will be Tuesday from the Jones and Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main St., Forest City, with Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Interment St. Agnes Cemetery, Forest City. Friends may call Monday. 4 to 7 p.m.
