Killed In Belgium - Pvt. Harry Appel, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Appel, Pequea R1, who was previously reported missing in action in Belgium since Jan. 13, was killed in action on the same day according to a second War Department telegram received by his parents. He entered service June 2, 1944, trained at Camp Wheeler, Ga., and went overseas in December. Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Betty, and his daughter, Betty Jane, of Peguea; and the following brothers and sisters: Geneve, wife of George M. Grant, Pequea; Delores, wife of John H. Fryberger, Reading; Sadie, Bankson, Frances Ruth, Gloria, Elwood, Harold, Leon, Betty, and John Jr., all at home. Source: Lancaster, Pa.
