As a five-year-old, she took piano lessons, and became an accomplished pianist and gave many recitals during her young adult life. She was also an excellent student and always gave 100 percent to all her endeavors.
Her family moved to Porterville in 1942. She graduated from Porterville High School and was a member of the California Scholarship Federation. At an assembly, she was asked at the last moment to accompany a quartet of male vocalists, which she did, and it was as though they had rehearsed and performed before.
She attended Fresno State College and decided she'd rather be in the workplace. She worked for the telephone company and helped manage her parents drive-in restaurant. One job wasn't enough. The family moved to Fresno in 1951. She got a job at Fresno Guarantee Savings and Loan.
She married A. Victor Asadourian, the love of her life, and they became parents of three children. She was always involved with her children's activities. She was president of Homan PTA, a Sunday school teacher at St. Paul's Armenian Church. She also found time to be president of Fresno Breakfast Lady Lions. She took great pleasure working alongside and assisting with buying, sales, and modeling for Jo-Jane's Too (dress shop).
Jeanne and Vic started collecting and selling antiques. She especially appreciated antique purses.
She was considerate, helpful and supportive of her entire family. She greatly helped her parents and in-laws. Whenever her sister Sandra asked her to take care of her children, she lovingly did.
Jean suffered a stroke 12-1/2 years ago and courageously learned to talk, eat and walk again, with the help of her beloved family.
Her family wishes to thank the respective staffs at St Agnes Medical Center, St. Agnes Hospice and Well-Being Home Care.
She was preceded in death by her son David.
Jean is survived by her husband Vic; her daughter, Victoria (Vikki) Lowery and husband Keven; her son, Art and wife Lucie; her sisters, Irene Boyajian and Sandra Stein; her brother, Haig Surabian, Jr.; her niece, Jennifer Stein; her nephew, Eric Stein and wife Shannon; and her grand niece, Emily Jane; aunt Lilly; and many cousins and friends.
