Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon for Frank Andersen, 62, lifetime Forest Lake resident Forest Lake resident, who died Sunday morning at Veteran's hospital, Minneapolis. Death resulted from a brain cancer with which he was stricken January 16 of this year. He partially recovered for about 2 1/2 months, and then suffered a relapse from which he did not recover. The Rev. Frank Johnson officiated at services held in Faith Lutheran church, Forest Lake, at 2 p.m. with music by a niece, Shirley Arndt Hagstrom. Pallbearers were young friend and nephews of the deceased - Robert Andersen, William Andersen, James Holmbeck, Thomas Houle, Patrick Gaughn and Clinton Fladland. Burial was in Swedish (editorial comment: Scandinavian Cemetery) cemetery here. Honoray pallbearers were Marvin Kaufman, Russell Hammond, Floyd Cohoes, Ralph Smith, Joseph Silberman and William Nickelson, all close friends of the the deceased. Mr. Andersen was born March 24, 1896 in Forest Lake and attended school in Columbus township. He was married in St. Paul April 25, 1925 to Leila Holmbeck of Aitkin. Except for 1 1/2 years in Stillwateer and a short time in Nashville, Tennessee, Mr. Andsen was a lifetime resident of Forest Lake. He served in the artillery in World War I in 1918. He worked as a carpenter here for a few years, then with the Murphy Construction Co. and Carl Radmacher in Minneapolis. For the 11 years prior to his death, he was employed as a superintendent for Capp Homes of Minneapolis. He was a membeer of Faith Lutherab church and the Nodern Woodmen. He was a former member of the Forest Lake Village council. Mr. Andersen was an avid hunter and fisherman and a lover of the outdoors. Surviving are his wife, Leila; three daughters, Mrs. E.@. Ewald of St. Cloud, Mrs. Gordon Rydeen of Scandia and Susan Christine, age 14, at home. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Frank Arndt and Marie Andersen of Forest Lake, and Mrs. Louis O'Rourke of St. Paul; three brothers, Ed and Ben of Forest Lake and Alfred of Portland,Oregon; and four grandchildren, William and Thomas Ewald of St. Cloud, and Karen and Roger Rydeen of Scandia.
