NORFOLK - Thelma Clark Claytor, 89, widow of Charles O. ''Red'' Claytor, died June 18, 2003 in DePaul Medical Center. She had lived in Norfolk for 58 years.
Mrs. Claytor was born in Matoaka, W.Va. on Jan. 14, 1914 to Charles Clark and Zella Gadd Clark. She had eight brothers and sisters. She has one surviving brother, Raymond Clark of Honaker, Va.
Mrs. Claytor was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was known for her love and devotion to animals. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed her time spent outside.
She is also survived by her two children, Chesley Godfrey of Delmont, Pa. and Jeannie Lewis Gillette of Charleston, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Charles Godfrey, Chesley Godfrey Jr., Michelle Tilley, Terri Klein, Lisa Seagle, Vicki Filan and Leslie Herman; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, by the Rev. David Anderson. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8 p.m.
