Thomaston, Dec. 6 - Capt. Elmer W. Freeman, 67, died today in a New York hospital, where he had been a patient the past three weeks.
Capt. Freeman was born in Rockland March 2, 1882, son of John H. and Mabel (Larrabee) Freeman. During his early life he was skipper of several coastwise schooners out of Rockland. He operated the lighters, Radium and Sophia, and had been harbor master of Rockland until his retirement in 1930 because of ill health.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nettie (Upham) Freeman of Thomaston; a daughter, Mrs. Leah Davis Brooks of Thomaston; one son, Charles B. of New Britain, Conn.; a sister, Mrs. Louise Clark of Marlborough, Mass.; two half sisters and two half-brothers; two gransons and a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home here with Rev. H. F. Leach of the Methodist Church officiating.
Interment will be in the Village Cemetery.
