David was named after his famous Uncle Civil War General David R Remick who married his Aunt Martha A Cameron. He was born and raised in Augusta, Iowa.

Per family traditions, David carried the Kelly traits of red hair and fair skin. In May of 1877, David married Evelena Hiney in Des Moines County Iowa.

In 1879 David and Evelena moved north of Burlington to Morning Sun where David started to work at the butcher shop. In January of 1888, David lost his wife Evelena during child birth of a set of twin girls. A year later he married Cynthia Hicks.

By 1891, David moved his family to Omaha, the home of his older brother James. He opened and operated his own butcher shop and supplied meat to the city Jail with his brother in law, Edwin N Daharsh. David operated his shop until 1904 when he moved his family to Los Angeles, California.

In January, 1912, David Remick Cameron died four months after his older brother James had passed away in Omaha.
