The first automobile funeral in San Antonio in which automobiles solely were used, was held yesterday, when the body of Rev. Enos J. Balsley, rector of St. Luke's Protestant Episcopal Church was conveyed to the Mission burial park for interment. The automobile hearse of the Shelley-Loring Undertaking Company was used for the first time, and was followed by other cars bearing the relatives and friends of the dead rector.
Rev. Mr. Balsley, who was 56 years old, died Thursday afternoon. He had resided in San Antonio five years, coming from Paterson, N. J., to take charge at St. Luke's Church. The funeral services at St. Mark's Episcopal Church were conducted by Bishop Johnston, assisted by the Episcopal clergymen of the city. An eloquent eulogy to the minister was delivered by Bishop Johnston at the grave.
