Laurie earned her masters in microbiology, was a real estate agent and went on to earn her law degree becoming a well respected patent attorney.
She loved to travel, sailing and all things Borzoi.
A celebration of her life will take place in the spring. Laurie had a deep love of animals, so in lieu of flowers, please send donations to the San Diego Zoo or the San Diego Humane Society.

From a childhood interest in bugs to her position as the Nath Law Group's leader of the Intellectual Property Prosecution Group may seem like quite a leap for Laurie Axford. But after putting her M.S. in Biotechnology to work, a patent case involving her scientific work made her realize she was "tired of sloshing around smelly chemicals." It was so long, beakers and lab coats, and hello, law school.
She was in a "great, happy practice," focusing primarily on intellectual property prosecution and licensing at the time of her death.
