An obituary in "The Otsego Farmer & Republican" (Cooperstown, NY), Fri., Mar. 29, 1940, p.3, writes that "Laselle Brimmer," of Garrattsville, died at age 53 on Tuesday a.m., March 19 1940, at the St. Luke's hospital in Utica "from pneumonia which developed following an operation." The funeral was at the United Presbyterian church, on Thursday afternoon, with services conducted by the Rev. William Gartshore. "The bearers were Will Bissell, Ernest Thurston, Andy Hall, Merton Hull, Hume Turnbull and George Turnbull." "The body was placed in Hillington vault at Morris pending burial later in Hillington cemetery."
Laselle Brimmer was born August 1, 1886, at New Lisbon, a son of Albert and Julia (Gardner) Brimmer. He married Miss Rose Lull of New Lisbon, December 25, 1897. At the time of his death they had been living in Garrattsville for 18 years. "Mr. Brimmer was a man of unusual quietness, kind and considerate to all."
"Surviving are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Grace Wilson, of Garrattsville, and Miss Geneva, living at home, and one son, Albert, also at home; two grandchildren, Glenn and Roger Wilson; one nephew, Jesse Brimmer of Mt. Vision and several cousins together with many friends who united with the family in their sorrow."
