Her father managed a retail grocery store and was a New York native. Her mother was originally from Colorado. In 1940, Muriel's maternal grandmother, Mattie Bartlett, lived with them on Connection Drive in Clarence. She would grow up to marry Howard Vernon Brown, also a New York native. They share a headstone at the Clarence Fillmore Cemetery and are together in Heaven. May they both Rest in Peace.
