Coriolanus Domaras "Crill" Burkhart (1821-1881) and Caroline Lavinia [Goff] Burkhart (1835-1892) came West, leaving from Iowa in May, 1847 and taking the Oregon Trail to the Oregon Territory, arriving in Oct 1847 at what would become the town of Albany, Linn County, Oregon. They staked out a donation land claim South of town consisting of 640 acres (320 acres each for husband and wife) and built their home, where they would raise their thirteen children. Olive was their 1st child, being born on Feb 21, 1852 in the family home on their donation land claim. She lived on the family's farm and attended school, growing up as a 1st generation Oregonian. Olive did not marry, remaining in the family's home. She died at the young age of 28 yrs. on Dec 8th, 1880. Her grief stricken parents, who had already had to bury four other children, had her interred with her brothers and sisters at Riverside Cemetery in Albany, Linn County, Oregon.
