On October 31, 1993, Jan married Jim in Commerce City. Jan moved to Colorado with her family when she was a toddler and grew up in Commerce City. After graduating from Adams City High School, Jan joined the Army. After serving for 3 years, she earn a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Her career at the VA Hospital in Denver and went on to include being a contract officer, before she retired in January of 2016. Jan enjoyed reading, music and taking motorcycle trips with Jim. They attended Sturgis many times, but were very happy to take a motorcycle ride anyplace where they could be free, enjoy nature and feel the wind in their faces. Jan loved her many cats and her black lab, Lexi. Most of all- Jan loved spending time with her family. Survivors beside Jim included: daughter Linda (Oscar) Perez; mother Lois Bertapelle; sisters Alberta (David) Farnsworth, Linda (Terry) Bullington, Alice (Scott) Ingram; brother Anthony (Connie) Bertapelle; and grandchildren Teara, Angel, Rowen, Kyrah and Damen. Her father preceded. Memorial donations made to Wild Animal Sanctuary. Military Honors and committal service held May 9th. Tabor-Rice Funeral Home handled arrangements.
