Bailey. On Saturday, September 16, Brother S. C. Bailey departed this life. Had he lived until October 19, he would have been eighty-five years old. Forty years of Brother Bailey's life were spent in preaching "Baptist doctrine," but upon hearing the truth more perfectly, he obeyed the gospel, and spent the rest of his days in preaching the simple gospel of Christ by word of mouth and through the printed page. He and his wife "Ruby" traveled widely over the brotherhood in behalf of the Boles Orphan Home. She was the greatest comfort and help to Brother Bailey in his declining years, other than the Lord himself. Brother Showalter spoke words of comfort here and Brother Ruel Lemmons at the grave at Midlothian. It was good to have known and to have been associated with Brother Bailey. ---C. B. Thomas. Corpus Christi, Texas. The Firm Foundation, Feb. 13, 1945, 16.
