Malcolm was the husband of Edna Pearl Thornton Andrews and the son of William Malcolm Andrews, Sr and Lizzie Taylor Andrews. During the depression, he served with the Merchant Marine out of Louisiana.

He ran Andrews DryCleaning with his brother, Ben, in the years leading up to, and during, WWII. He and his brother sold the DryCleaners and started a soda Bottling company. He died young from a sudden heart attack.
