Mr. Robert Allen, 76, of Hornsby, departed this life Tuesday morning, November 12, 2013 at his home.

The husband of Janis Donaldson Allen, who survives, he was retired from the Hardeman County Board of Education, having been a mechanic and transportation supervisor. He was born November 25, 1936 in Brownfield, Mississippi, son of the late Tommy Stanford Allen and Effie Hodge Allen and lived all of his life in Hardeman County. He was an avid hunter, spending time hunting deer and fishing. He loved to garden and enjoyed drag racing, dirt track and traveling. His family states that he dearly loved his family. Mr. Allen was a member of Palestine Baptist Church in Chester County.

In addition to his wife, whom he married on May 21, 1971, survivors include a daughter and her husband, Amanda and Curt Baird of Hornsby; a son and his wife, Lynn and Kellie Allen of Hornsby; a stepdaughter and her husband, Dana and Joe Patterson of Medina; a stepson, Douglas Majors of Murfreesboro; seven grandchildren, Justin Weaver, Hunter Brewer, Autumn Childress, Tamara Webster, Jaxon and Nicholas Baird and Nathan Majors; and two great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Frances Clayton of Potts Camp, MS and Sarah Ruth Walton of Pontotoc, MS. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Allen in 2010.
