Pearls' birth year was always in question as she never revealed it to anyone in the family, the truth is that she may not have known herself. There is also a question as to what town she was actually born in and I have recently edited that to reflect my current (2020) belief that she was born in Eldon, Iowa, she had always said she was born in Nauvoo, IL but I could never find any record to support that. Her brother Perry was born in Van Wert, Decatur, Iowa, and her second brother Everett was born just south of there in Madison Town, Mercer County, Missouri. Her mother Rozella disappears around 1889/90 and Walter marries Polly while living in Belfast, Des Moines, Iowa in April of 1890. Another item of note concerning her birth year is that her record of marriage to Alonzo in 1907 states she is 19, she would turn 20 later that year so this puts her clearly in the 1887-89 range for a birth year.
If the burial record that I have attached for Rozella is correct, it would mean that Pearl was born in Eldon in Nov 1890 and her mother died during the birth process. This would also mean, assuming the death record is correct, that Walter remarried before Rosella's death, April 1890.
Pearl NEVER spoke of her father, she apparently hated him and for good reason, he never acknowledged her and put her out to be raised by others at a very young age, she is found in the census of Fort Madison living with the Standard family. When Walter and Polly moved to Oklahoma in 1901 they did not take Pearl with them.
