Earnest Carlton Brooks, 92, a longtime resident of Comanche, Oklahoma died Saturday, June 24, 1989 at his home. Mr. Brooks was born on May 28, 1897 in Graham, Indian Territory.

He had worked as a refinery employee. He was a retired farmer and had, also, retired from Comanche Public Schools as a custodian. He was a member of the Hastings Baptist Church in his youth. He was inititated into the Masonic Order on August 4, 1923. He was a member of Diamond Lodge #299 of Corum, Oklahoma and finished his degrees on October 10, 1923. As a member of the Comanche Lodge, he was presented with a 50 year pin in 1973, a 60 year pin in 1983, and a 65 year pin in 1988. He was past Master of the Masonic Lodge in 1931 and 1971. He was an outstanding member of the Comanche Lodge as well as throughout Oklahoma.

Survivors include one brother, Cecil Bryant Brooks of Modesto, California; and several nieces and nephews including Norma Davis of Duncan, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by one brother, James Lee Brooks and one sister, Eula Hays.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, June 27, 1989 at the Morehead-Goetz Chapel with Rev. Mike McCord and Rev. Bob Waitman officiating. Burial followed at Fairlawn Cemetery. Bearers were great nephews and honorary bearers were members of the Comanche Masonic Lodge #41.
